With the recent news that Pittsburgh Penguins’ and NHL superstar Sidney Crosby would be out indefinitely once again, there were obviously many disappointed fans. Heck, there were even fans heckling Crosby for having to miss time.
Folks, I can understand the disappoint. Crosby is the best player in the game and has come an extremely long way since his rookie season back in 2005-06.
Crosby sets people up, has eyes in the back of his head, knows how to put the puck in the net and makes everyone around him better. Sure, many will say that he still “whines” to the referees and has a lot of growing up to but for the most part, Crosby is becoming quite the professional and knows how to handle himself on the ice.
With all of that said, we all need to put these feelings aside and realize that what the Penguins and Crosby are doing is RIGHT. Health is being taken as the number one priority and it should because when it comes down to it, no one likes to see other players hurt, especially when it comes to one of the best players this game has ever had.
I know that we just got used to seeing Crosby back out on the ice and watching him do all the great things we are used to seeing from him. It was a sight for sore eyes and a sight that was great for the entire National Hockey League.
Again though, this needs to be about Crosby’s health. We do not want to lose Crosby from the game forever and if he was playing right now, he would be risking just that.
Right now, for Crosby, the Penguins, the NHL and its fans, this should just be about getting Crosby back to full health so that we can all enjoy the great things he does on a more consistent basis if and when he returns.
